This a blog dedicated to the outdoors. To adventure and adventurers.
I was brought up in Northern England where beaches, forests, mountains and moors we're close at hand. My family holidays were to Scotland and the Lake District where we camped, fished and ate up the trails. I've been lucky enough to live in a few places around the world. I had many years in Australia where I got to go bushwalking and climbing extensively and I recently moved to the USA and can't wait to explore.
Like most hikers I love kit. I'd like this site to be a home for the pieces of equipment from yesteryear that have now nearly all been superseded by a multitude of newer, lighter and more technologically advanced options. This is not meant to be a home for just tweed, hobnail boots and army surplus, although there will be some. This is more of a homage to all the important pieces of gear that have opened up the outdoors for us all throughout the years.
I would love to hear any comments or suggestions on specific topics or items I could cover and am open to any contributions. Feel free to contact me at kevin@vintagehikingdepot.com you can also find me on Facebook at facebook.com/VintageHikingDepot
Note: Wherever possible I have sought permission and linked through to the resources I have used. If there is anything on here that should not be, please let me know and I will remove it immediately. This blog is about spreading the word of the outdoors.
